Lesson

This weekend God taught me a lesson. I need Him, every man attempts to do things with his own strength, but through God we succeed, therefore we need to give Him credit for our success, but as a man I took pride in my success. Yesterday I had a moment of weakness in which I could not succeed, and I was forced to go to God to get that strength.
Everyone says that they now this lesson, but you don't know until you actually experience it.

I would like to encourage everyone to check out a Christian Fellowship group I started on facebook.

Perseverance

James 1:2-4, "Consider it pure joy my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Romans 5:3-4, "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character, and character, hope."

2 Peter 1:5-7, "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and goodness; knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love."

Suffering

Philippians 1:29, "For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also suffer for him." We ask God why do we suffer, as man we don't like suffering. "suffer for him" as the passage states may mean that suffer means to serve and to give him time.

1 Peter 2:20-25. Our calling as Christians is to suffer for Christ (Priority) v. 21. (examples) Our goal as Christians is to live like Christ to be Christ-like, ultimate feat is to be a martyr, not everyone is called to be a martyr, but we must always defend/suffer for Christ.

1 Peter 4:12-19. Two types of suffering: Suffering for Christ (Good) - martyr, serving God and people, and giving time. Suffering because of sin (Bad) - guilt and emotions such as lust, anger, and pride. We get confused about pain/suffering, we relate pain (suffering) to sin, therefore we avoid suffering for Christ. We need to pick up our cross and follow Jesus.
